Nazaré Storms, a passionate equine surgeon from Antwerp, developed her passion for horses at the age of seven and soon knew that she wanted to become a veterinarian. She did this successfully at three different Belgian universities (Bachelor in Louvain-La-Neuve, Master in Ghent and Internship in Liège), so that she immediately sharpened her language skills (NL, FR, ENG) and became familiar with the working methods of the various clinics. could make his own.
In 2022, she became one of the youngest Diplomates of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (Dipl. ECVS). During her residency she learned the tricks of the trade as a surgeon and emergency physician at the equine clinic of the University of Liège. She has been strengthening the Via Nova surgical team since October 2023. Her interest lies mainly in orthopedic procedures and emergency operations. She also has a special interest in ethology (behavioral sciences). Nazaré therefore approaches your horse in a calm but decisive manner.
During her career, Nazaré has already completed several internships in Europe (Grosbois in France, Rossdales in the United Kingdom, Hanseklinik für Pferde in Germany, Evidesia Stromsholm in Sweden, University Clinic in Denmark and Austria) and at UC Davis in America. In addition to her PhD, she has academically exhibited award-winning clinical posters at veterinary conferences in Europe and regularly gives presentations to fellow surgeons and students. As the author of several scientific articles in veterinary journals, she remains active in research. In addition to her work in the clinic, she is completing her doctorate on laminitis at the University of Liège. In her spare time, Nazaré continues to ride horses and enjoys unconventional travel.
