Ophthalmology

Eye problems in horses are often painful and, if not treated promptly, can lead to permanent damage. Signs such as squinting, excessive tearing, swelling around the eye, light sensitivity, or a cloudy or discolored cornea indicate that further examination is necessary.

We perform a thorough ophthalmologic examination, which may include ophthalmoscopy, fluorescein staining, intraocular pressure measurement, and, if necessary, ultrasound.

Treatment is tailored to the specific diagnosis and may include local or systemic medication, eye care, and, when necessary, surgical intervention.
